Saturday fun day with the family.

Today both parents decided they wanted to spend time with me. What's a bulldog to do but con them both into new toys and treats. I worked them like a well oiled sewing machine.

We took a ride in the hotrod car, Dad thinks people like the car, it's totally me that they are looking at. Mom thinks I am such a baby that she has to do everything for me, NOT. I actually think that, she thinks its time I get a fulltime job. #notetoMomNOWay.

We had a family lunch and then I got to go to the fancy schmancy dog store. You know the ones that have frozen special treats. It was totally my idea to go there, but I heard Mom saying she was taking me there because I have been such a sweet boy.

The pawrents bought me Dog Gelato. Dad said my pawallowence was being double dipped. My tiny dog 1/2 pint was 13.00 bones. Yikes, I need to save my money for my women's...

So after all that fun we picked out a few prezzies for my girls. You know, I have a small circle of ladies down at the Twitter Saloon. My first girlfriend Maud, Sugarlump my special lady, LadyBeckett the girl of danger, Miss Lola my sweet crush and then you know, I lust after so many others... I hear the Easter Bulldog is coming this year. So we made some homemade cards and I pawed them for sending.

Lastly we had yard duty. that was fun. I sat inside barking at the equipment, and then I went outside and pee'd on the neighbor's Mom. I say this was a fun and complete day.

Happy Saturday everyone...

Bulldog gone bad or is it the owner????

Today while making that tough decision about the feline we foster, we were contacted about a bulldog that was at A shelter. The person was in the waiting room to have the dog surrendered. This shelter person called Mommy because we are on the contact list with some shelters. The owner was there to turn the dog over because it had a behavior issue. On first glance it appeared as if the dog was injured and on second glance it appeared as if the dog was sick.

Because we have Rufus Rascals and a few vets on Angel accounts, our shelter worker in another County wanted to see if I had any experience or knowledge to this person. I believe she thinks all bulldog people live in one neighborhood.

Facts are sketchy, with one HUGE exception. Owner called her friend she knows that has a bulldog, said friend gave all kinds of hugs and kisses and reassurance and said put it DOWN. Now I won't lie and say maybe that is the answer in many cases, but said friend Suzy Q is not your expert.

When dogs fight or aggressive ask your vet, ask your expert, but please don't ask the friend with the hyper smiles and kisses. You see, this dog was just about to be put down.

We saved the dog, took him to a vet and had the behavior specialist eval the dog. Turns out dog was not aggressive dog was SICK.

Please folks... I will share my home remedies that I use on Gunner, but never will I attempt to solve your behavior issues. While I have had horses since the age of 3 and shown dogs for a very long time, there are limitations.

Foster dog is now adjusting and I will follow him, I am hoping for a complete turn around...

The bulldog life...

First I want to apologize to my twitter folks for my random tweet that was out of control. Second I want to share a few things we have learned, especially since they say "you can't teach an old dog new tricks"..

Did you know you can be signed on to your twitter account on your ibone and a computer and an ipad at the same time. Did you know that your tweets are searchable on Google? And did you know that if you are really sophisticated (which all Bulldogs and Bulldog friends are) unless you use the privacy features, all your friends info is capturable.

Second lesson... Having a caregiver for your animal. It is VERY important that they do as you say, not as they wish. For instance, other than my VET giving me chocolate, small peanut m&m once or twice, it is NEVER ok to give licks of chocolate when the Mom says no.

Third lesson... Have a secondary Vet on speed dial. We travel a distance for our vet and the vet specialist, but sometimes you need a quick is this a bad thing. As Hurricane season approaches, yes I know the snow isn't even melted, it's important for the southern part of the world to remember preparations... This is going to be a NASTY summer, the Farmer's Almanac says so.

Fourth lesson... All bulldogs are not created equally. It's important to have that "expert" to sound off to. That expert is a reputable breeder that is recognized. While my Mommy has experience in animals large and small, she would never pretend to be an expert. She consults with experts. If you have a behavior issue, SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP. University of Pennsylvania has a department  you can consult with, the fee is very reasonable. My first line of experts are two Bulldog Breeders in the Bulldog Hall of Fame. Second comes UofP.

Last lesson, the question never asked is the one that burns a hole in your head...

The next post will address the fourth lesson and why it's important to know the difference in an expert and a fellow owner...

Happy Bulldogging...

Rain rain rain... please stop the madness

Yesterday we had a huge rain storm. The Tornado alarms were going off on the ibone, and the local school has the lightening detector at full tilt. We were scared with the winds and rain. The tv fickered a few times.

Mommy and I decided to take a short nap, she's been kind of sick lately. So her on the love seat in the Charlie Sheen room and me on my chair in my room sound asleep, when all of a sudden... I started barking like there was an intruder. I'm sure Mommy grabbed Pete and came to me. There I stood on my chair with water circling me. She swooped me up and off to the Charlie Sheen room I went.

The water came through the door with the elevation being jostled from next door and we were flooding. My brand new carpet was soaked and ruined. The wood floor beneath it was a mess and my new couch (big people size) and new chair were soaked. Thankfully none of my pictures were hung yet, because they would have been ruined too.

Mommy called Daddy to come back to the house so we could get the water out, and then the cleanup began. It took several hours it seemed and finally it was all dried. I do not like the water sucking machine so I went to Dad's room and watched tv for a while.

Tomorrow the contractor is coming over, we are heart sick at the losses we suffered but are sincerely thankful we were ok. The winds were bad and scared us, but staying safe was more important.

Thanks to our friends who have reached out.

I've got friends in low places...

Mom turned on the XM and Garth was humming out my favorite song. As the music played I kept my paw on Mommy's knee. Every once in a while I would bump her knee with my nose. She knows it's about time for her to sing (oh lordy help us) the chorus. Don't tell her, but I really love it.

In addition to that, she has strategically placed pictures of my friends eye level for ME. So in essence, I have friends in lo-ooo-ow places. You know, knee high to a bulldog.

The painter dude that smiles at Mommy a lot suggested we make a wall of friends in my Man Cave, so she is busy sending pictures to Costco the photo-guru so I can have all my twitter buddies on my special wall.

In the mean time, I am hitting the button on the juke box A-18 Garth Brooks I've Got Friends in Low Places...

Almost two years... We are so very lucky~

On March 17, 2012 my Mommy picked me up from my breeder grandmother. It was a bittersweet day. My sister/litter mate and I took the long drive to my Aunt's house. Mommy cried when I left, she was very sad and didn't know what to do. Remember Mommy couldn't have me for a while when she bought me. The first night I was scared and I wanted my Mommy. Within 3 weeks Mommy threatened the landlord guy at our temp house, and home I came. During the next two years I have had the time of my life.

My many friends on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Tampa Meetups and so on have made it a total blast. Of course, I learned the bulldog ropes from my besties Rocco and Deuce. These two guys have been so important to me.  My very first bulldog friend was Falco, Henry Ford's brother. Shortly after that I met the StudClub dudes and life has never been the same.

My two years have been filled with love and hope. My bff's sister survived her tumor surgery, everyone dug deep and collected money for her surgeries. Never would I have imagined how much people love our bulldogs and give monetarily. We also had a few parties along the way.

I am hopeful this next year will be as great as the last two! My BFF's both will  have human babies so their time is limited, but let's hope we have many good times ahead.

Thanks Rocco and Deuce you two make it all right!!

Bulldog Meetup Enterprise Dog Park March 2nd 2014

We all headed on a bright sunny Florida morning to gather with a few bulldogs. This was not an "official meet up" only a few that wanted to get together in the Northern part of Pinellas County. Well we couldn't have been more excited as the bulldogs arrived.

We had Sexay Marley our friend from Twitter and the meet ups, we had new friends, and a few lost friends. What a great time had by all.

Meet ups are very important to our bulldogs. They socialize and get to see other push face dogs. Generally we take over an area and the other breeds just stay away. I would like to think they are giving us our privacy, but I am pretty sure they are in awe of our beauty and cannot compete with such royalty.

English Bulldogs are special breeds. Generally they will not be long distance runners or walkers for that matter. Their capacity is short and lets face it, they are much cuter laying around then actually doing physical labor.

Mommy was able to get one of her favorite bulldogs to come out and he brought his brother and cousin with him. I wasn't even too jealous, it's not like Theo, who she would trade me for in a minute I am sure. But Brutus and I are pretty much the same, full of energy and know we are the stars of the show...Well...Cletus is sort of the star he taught me how to stand on tables yesterday and I decided to try it out. BIG. HUGE. FAIL. I went to the crate without a treat. Not sure I want to do that again. Here are some pictures you might enjoy.  *** We are planning a BIG treat for April *** We are having a well known Bulldog Expert attend our meetup to answer questions you might have. Just a little ask and answer with the Expert. Stay tuned...
