Thankful and amused...

I am thankful for all my friends online and in town. I am slightly amused at my friends and their pictures. When Mom is viewing them on the computer, I stand over her shoulder and I look at them. Full well knowing if they are in a costume or posed some sort of way, I will be deemed to do the exact thing. Fortunately for me Mom is neither a great photographer or a copycat. So after the first attempt, she usually ends up with me on her lap giving budges. (kisses).

While my Mom feels deflated for her attempts, I am quite pleased with the extra time of snuggling and kissing.  We sort of love spending time together but I don't like her to know my weaknesses.

Here is the latest picture she tried to recreate...

I chewed the stuffed Gunner and I won't lay down... so much for trying...

To love a Bulldog by Mom

When I first deposited on Gunner to buy him, I had no idea what Bulldogs were about. We were Old English Mastiff people. One look at that cute precious face, and I was hooked. Over the next two weeks awaiting his 8th week birthday I learned more than ever. Since then, we have learned more than you can imagine...

First and foremost keep him cool, no heat for bulldogs. Next was the health issues. It's not if they have surgery it's when. Finally the short life span. That was really hard to take.

One thing that I know for a fact is my love for Gunner is unconditional. However, I also know this is a breed that is one that you should love them while you have them, and cherish each and every moment.

My Mom use to say "God only lends you children". I feel the same exact way about my four legged boy. He is on loan from heaven, time with him is short and I know that at any time my heart could break in two.

Having Gunner in my life is a blessing I couldn't ever imagine without. The joy and love he gives me is paramount. Our time with our Twitter friends is really enjoyable. Being able to share our lives with like minded people is really great and we treasure those friendships.

When I see the bumper stickers on cars that say "Who rescued Who" I smile, because it may have been my bank account that bought him, but it was him who rescued me.

Thanks to all our friends for being with us during this journey.

A gentle toy reminder...

Last week I posted a Vine on a chew toy that had outlived it's time. It was a rubber orange pretzel like toy.  The reason I posted it was because a friend of my Mom's had a Schnauzer that chewed and chewed and swallowed off pieces that got stuck and she died.

My Mom randomly goes through my toys to see if any pieces are missing, or if I am chewing something that is coming off. My latest removal from the favorite bin was my Deer Antler. I was leaving shards of antler around and when Mommy picked it up it was very sharp, and made her a bit concerned.

I also have two bins, one with bones (nylabone types) and things I don't chew in one, and the other is for supervision. I have squeaky toys and sucky's in there.  This helps Mom keep track of what I am playing with.

How many dogs, not just bulldogs have swallowed something that was missed, and have had to have surgery? When Mommy brought me home from the birth Mom, they told her no squeaky's unless you watch him. The Squeaker surgery is about 4000.00 and risky.

Since I love my pawallowence very much, and would like to save for a nice DoggyMoon with my woman, I am just trying to keep myself out of surgery if possible.

A couple of things we just learned from our friend the Vet. No string type ropes, anything toy your dog can chew, take away the broken off pieces. Keep the ring off the water bottle you give your dog, those are very dangerous.

And lastly, one major concern this year area bags, keep them away too.

In my friend Schultzy's case, it was a sad way to go for a 2 year old. Please keep our toys in check.

Vacationing without your bulldog...

On a rare occasion, my pawrents (parents) went on a cruise together. Thus leaving me with the man-sitter. What that entailed was quite the adventure. Generally I do not leave my house when my servants come to take care of me. I have a pretty sweet set-up and I like to enjoy it. However, this time was d i f f e r e n t...

This meant packing up all my favorite things (with the exception of my Mommy, she's my #1 fave), taking a crate for me to have there for my den, and bowls, leashes, harnesses, all kinds of boney bones and treats. What I couldn't take was my chair. Not.Happy.

We load up the car with their suitcases in the rear, my travel crate in the backseat, and all my stuff. Off we go. Now I was thinking I was going on this trip because we are a family as you know, and we did just go to the beach for a day in a half until I couldn't stand it any-longer and man-sitter came and retrieved me. To my dismay I arrived at my drop off point.

The Aussies were there to greet me. I came in and looked around. Off to the backyard I went. I had to hide out there for a few minutes while my servants brought in my gear. After it was all set up, I returned to find the GATES. I am not fond of the gates, but I am too rough for the 8 year old Aussie sisters.

All of a sudden the dreaded "Give Mommy a kiss, she has to go" voice came out and I was sad. I started to bark as if to say, hey wait you forgot me... But she and Dad left the building.

So I made the best of it and took over the office at my man-sitters house. Here I am holding court with my bone. This is my favorite bone, I feel very powerful with this bone. Since I was a little blue missing my pawrents, my man-sitter decided to give me a little fun for the few days I was there. He is a practical joker and loves to have fun, so he dressed me in a biker vest (he found it, he is not a biker) and took me to Sam's club for a little visit. He put me in a cart and took me around (very early hours). He told our buddy at the front door I was a service dog, Im a mechanic BOL... We jetted around the store and he showed me off. I got lots of kisses and then we left. After that, we went to the bank and I got treats and monies... Mommy left me a check for incidentals so I had to paw it and get my pawallowence. After that we went to Dairy Queen for a little pawsundae. Did you know they make sundaes for dogs? Very impressive.... it was whipped cream.

We took other trips but the man-sitter and I decided we would keep that our little secret. I will say I met a bitchin babe of a bulldog at one of our trips. She was just visiting but ohhhh laaaaa laaaa I gave her my number, lets hope she calls... On Friday night, we had pizza bones and I was really polite, I didn't snap them up or anything. I was a very good boy (that's my story and I am sticking to it) early Saturday morning the telephone rang and my man-sitter gave me the look.  THEY. ARE.BACK.
He put me in my gated community and off he went to get them. He and I paw-swore we wouldn't tell all the fun we had.

Just about 40 minutes or 3 naps I hear the door open and my Mommy's voice is heard... I am barking and yapping so loud, I missed her so much. I jumped over the gate (who says bulldogs can't jump) and knocked her down. She was crying and I was too. We had a happy little reunion and then I went to the door and sat, I was ready to leave to go back to my man-cave and have my pawrents there to wait on me hand and paw. I loved my time at the man-sitters but home is where I love to be.
